Just say it.

Something I have learned in recent months that has benefitted me to no end is the importance of being direct and straightforward in communicating your thoughts and feelings as well as addressing problems. I mean, we all know communication is key, but it’s one thing to know it and another to experience its implementation in a crucial or serious scenario in your own life.

I cannot stress this enough. First off, don’t wait too long. Don’t miss opportunities. Honestly, I can think of a million different scenarios where waiting ends badly. All in different ways too. And trust me, none of them are good. I can speak from experience too. So don’t wait. You are only failing yourself and taking a loss in doing so.

Also, don’t get super fancy with your words. Don’t overcomplicate it. If you’re like me, you tend to do this. But when it comes to expressing your innermost conflicts, sometimes it might be best not to (unless you’re struggling with your words to describe something, in which case, understandable). Otherwise, don’t beat around the bush. You’re not being cautious in doing so if that’s what you’re thinking. Just dishonest with yourself for whatever reason. Probably because you’re scared to voice your innermost thoughts. Seriously, you’ll never say what you truly want to by being indirect, and in turn, you will never heal from whatever you’re experiencing. Accuracy and truth are essential.

Don’t stall out of fear of how someone will react. Don’t let that be the thing holding you back. Your inner peace is worth more than a negative response. If they are worth it, they will listen. They will listen to whatever is haunting the depths of your heart, mind, and soul. Be open about yourself with those close to you. People care about you. They want to help. Be raw and truthful. You’re not doing anyone any favors by bottling things up. Especially when they concern someone else. I promise you that there is nothing more liberating, relieving, or freeing. As the cliché saying goes, a weight really does lift off your shoulders.

I think most importantly, it’s healthy. It’s good for your mental and emotional well-being to be in touch and open with yourself as well as willing to share that with others. Don’t be the cause of your own chaos. The healthiest thing you can do for yourself and your relationships with people is to be honest. About everything. Your thoughts, feelings, issues… if you don’t communicate them now, you’re just gonna end up prolonging the process because eventually, they will come to light. And you will suffer until they do. That I can guarantee.


Why suffer? Just say it.
